Choosing a nappy for swimming
When it comes to choosing a nappy for swimming, there are quite a few choices out there. Going swimming with your baby can be great fun. On a warm sunny day, getting a bucket of water out for them to play in is lovely. But what’s the best option for your babies nappy?
Swim nappy options
When your little one is in or around water, a normal nappy is not a good option. Anything that soaks up water is going to quickly get soggy and fill up with water from the pool or sea. The last thing that you want is your little one getting weighed down by all of that water. If you are at home, you might want to go without a nappy. Many pools though, request that a swim nappy is worn until your little one is toilet trained. There are some disposable swim nappies on the market. I found that these tended to not fit very well. I don’t think that they would have held in many solid ‘accidents’ that may have happened. If you prefer to choose a reusable nappy for swimming, then you have a few options to choose from.
Choosing a nappy for swimming
When it comes to reusable swim nappies, there are really two options. Using the outer of a normal cloth nappy or going for a nappy designed for swimming. Really this is down to personal preference. Many people opt to use the outer from their normal nappies, because they already have them to hand. They also already know that they fit will and will contain everything. Our nappy covers will work fine as swim nappies, as they don’t have anything absorbent in them. It might be worth remembering though that using them in chlorinated water over a period of time, may damage them and reduce their live. Some people don’t like the idea of the wipe clean lining being directly against the skin.
Perhaps a better choice is a dedicated swim nappy. We have a range in stock that are designed to look like swim wear. They have a drawstring waist, which helps to keep things in. The cute print means that you don’t have to wear togs over the top of them. Just the nappy on it’s own is fine. You can find our swim nappies here.
