My experience with Ecobots Cloth Nappies

A few months ago, I found a few Mum’s to be who wanted to use Ecobots Cloth Nappies and asked them if they’d mind writing a few blog posts about their experiences. Here’s the first one for you, by Astrid, writing about her first experiences with Ecobots pre-folds on her newborn son Kieran.

Ecobots Cloth nappies.

Cloth nappies. I’ve been using them for a while now. I started with my younger sister. There’s twelve years between us and so I was changing her old school cloth nappies from when she was tiny. Then I had my first baby, a little girl who is now two, when she was five months old I started to use cloth. Mostly pocket nappies for her. She’s still in cloth nappies too.

So, when I was offered the chance to try Ecobots pre-folds I was keen. I prepped them by giving them a soak in a bucket of cold water overnight, then dried them and put them in our cupboard until baby number two was born. In order to try and get the hang of pre-folds I tried them on my big girl for a day (old school cloth nappy and cover). And it’s a good thing I did because I definitely needed practice!

Kieran was born at the end of may. He was born quickly and was a decent sized baby (8lbs 5oz). We’ve also used tots bots teeny fits and a few WAHM nappies on him. Which would be great for a baby who doesn’t wee much. But Kieran is a machine! That’s the reason I love pre-folds, they seem to hold so much more. And the covers are a fantastic fit, with the elastic around the legs. They help hold it all in. Especially if you’ve done a rubbish job with the pre-fold haha! The snappi took a bit of practice too, but I think they’re great. So much safer than nappy pins and I don’t find them fiddly at all.

I love that with pre-folds you can fold them in all sorts of different ways, customise the nappy to the child so to speak. I would highly recommend pre-folds. They have so many positives, a bit of a learning curve, but definitely worth learning!
