Sized cloth nappies

When it comes to choosing cloth nappies, not only do you have to choose between the many different styles out there, but you also need to decide if you want sized cloth nappies or one size fits most cloth nappies. Ecobots are a sized cloth nappy system, and here we’ll explain why sized cloth nappies are so good.

Sized cloth nappies last

One of the great things about sized cloth nappies is that you can be sure that they will last for all your children and probably beyond.  Choosing a one size fits most cloth nappy, also known as OSFM seems like a great idea.  If you only need to buy the one size then it will cost you less, right? Well, possibly not.  You see the problem is that your OSFM nappies are going to be on your little persons bottom for a lot longer, they probably won’t grow out of them while your little one is in nappies, so by the time you get to baby two or three they can get really worn and have saggy elastics.  Buying sized nappies might seem like a bigger out lay in the beginning, but over all you will probably save money.

Do OSFM really fit most?

The great thing about sized nappies, is that you can get a really great fit.  They aren’t trying to be all things to all people, just fit the size that they are supposed to.  With a lot of OSFM cloth nappies, you might find that to get that range of sizes, you miss out on a really great fit.  They will probably still do the job, but with sized cloth nappies (and of course covers) you are more likely to get a really great, leak proof and reliable fit.

Sized cloth nappies tend to fit newborns better

You will also be able to find a size that fits your newborn baby really well, there are few birth to potty nappies, which is yet another name for one size fits most cloth nappies that really do fit birth to potty.  Most of them are just slightly too big and bulky to fit tiny newborns with their skinny little thighs, and more often than not people find themselves waiting until their little one is a few months old before being able to use them.

Sized cloth nappies are less bulky

If your reusable nappy is designed to fit a range of sizes, the chances are that when it’s folded down to its smallest size, it’s really quite bulky.  That extra fabric has got to go somewhere, and usually it’s folded into the nappy or cover, which makes it bigger than it needs to be.  With a sized nappy or cover, it only has as much fabric as is needed for the size of little bottom that it needs to fit.  No extras that just act as extra padding.  A good prefold system like Ecobots is surprisingly trim, and far less bulky than some of the OSFM nappies on the market, particularly when using on a young baby.

sized cloth nappies can be cost effective

While it might seem at first glance that a one size fits most, or birth to potty nappy would be a more economical system, there really is far more to it than that.  A sized system will fit better, last longer and look trimmer in most cases.  While you might spend more up front on it, it will probably cost the same or less in the long run.  Check out the Ecobots sized cloth nappy system today.
